Tilt Garage Door Repairs & Replacement
Tilt doors are a single solid panel that pivots up and back into the garage. Plenty of homes around Canterbury still have them, and with the right care they keep going for years.
Tilt door faults we fix
- Broken or overstretched tension springs
- Frayed or snapped cables
- Worn pivot arms, brackets and rollers
- Door scraping the frame or sagging at one corner
- Locks and handles that no longer catch
- Motors that struggle to lift the full panel
Safety with tilt doors
A tilt door swings outward as it opens, and its springs hold a lot of tension. If a spring or cable has failed, the door can drop or swing unpredictably. Don't stand under or in front of a damaged tilt door, and don't try to rehang springs yourself.
Keep it or replace it?
If the panel itself is sound, repairing springs, cables and hardware is good value. If the frame is rotting, the panel is warped or you'd like more driveway space, we can replace the tilt door with a sectional door, which opens straight up rather than out.

Common questions
Can a tilt door be automated?
Yes. Most tilt doors can take a ceiling-mounted opener with a suitable arm, provided the door is properly balanced first.
